Does My Website Really Need A Blog?

The rise in blogging has been one of the largest trends throughout the last decade. The world’s first blog was actually created way back in 1994, with only a couple dozen blogs being online when the new millennium hit. In 2003, blogging platform WordPress launched – It was the same time Adsense was introduced to online marketers. Within just three years of the WordPress launch, 50 million blogs were online. By the end of 2010, that number soared to over 150 million.

Is It Too Late To Begin Blogging?

Blogging resembles a saturated industry these days, partially due to the rise of competing media like podcasts and vlogs. Still, that doesn’t mean it’s too late for you to start. While 70% of blogs on the web don’t earn any revenue, roughly 5% earn at least $25,000 per year. Whether you want to begin a new blog over something you love or start one to go with your current online business, blogging can be a great way to get helpful information out while also increasing website traffic. Here are some strategies you should implement to make your blog more successful:

Write from your own experience – Nobody else has lived your life or experienced the different events which have shaped your personality and insights into what they are today. With all of the different content that’s already available on the web today, your greatest tool for being different is your own experience. People love reading personal stories or learning something new from someone who is just like them. If you write content based on your own personal experiences it will give the reader something unique they won’t find anywhere else online!

Be opinionated – You should know from the beginning that you will inevitably upset segments of your audience throughout your journey. Internet users are strident and self-righteous, particularly when they’re able to be anonymous. While some may see this as being bad, it really isn’t. That’s because being opinionated will create engagement among your readers. As long as you can support a controversial opinion, respect other peoples opinion and accept any negativity as the price for building a bond with those who do share your outlook.

Enable social sharing – There are countless amounts of WordPress plugins capable of managing social media sharing. These static (or floating) buttons allow people to share a link from your blog to their Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or other social media profile. Audience interaction is crucial to assembling a decent following, and retweets or likes will introduce your blog to otherwise unreachable audiences.

Comment on other blogs – This falls into the same category as social sharing. Engaging with other bloggers and brands is an excellent way to raise your own profile. Seek out key influencers and websites in your niche, and demonstrate expertise by adding helpful comments to their blogs. Don’t be afraid to ask your readers to contribute comments, either. Once again, when users comment on your articles it creates engagement for new visitors coming in.

There are several benefits that come with running a blog. For businesses, not only can you see more traffic from them, you can also use them to answer common customer questions or issues. That will lead to fewer people contacting your support department with those questions or issues. Even though there is tons of blog content on the web already, it’s never too late for you to jump in the game and start blogging for yourself or your business!
