New gTLD sales in 2015 (so far)

While many argue that new gTLDs cannot be sold right now, it is not totally true. And a comparison with .com sales is not really fair, especially if we consider the fact that some of the best existing sales channels are not yet available. I am sure that the availability to list these domains either on 7 days Godaddy auctions or Godaddy premium auctions would be a great catalyzer of the sales. Anyhow, new extension domains are sold week by week, check the toplist:

Nice sales, aren’t they? And there is another more than 100 above $1000. Two things to emphasize: i, the prices are higher in almost every case as compared to the DomainExtension.com, sometimes even higher than the Domain.com (basic-fit.com, anyone?). ii, in most of the cases the value can be justified (not for all, but this is the same in .com sales).

See some extension stats in the top 100:

Weight of the new gTLD extensions in the TOP100 sales list in 2015 (so far)

Weight of the new gTLD extensions in the TOP100 sales list in 2015 (so far)

It is evident from the statistics that .club is the greatest winner so far being responsible for one quarter of the sales and .global, .tips, .world and .wiki are the runner ups and responsible for another quarter. All of them are general TLDs more or less. Compare those with the registration stats we have discussed in a previous article and there is another evidence how those stats are lying. Worth to mention that there are 50 different extensions in the top 100 – so if you have a good matching combination it can worth thousands to the right buyer in case of any extension. Interestingly, some of the top registered domains have no sale records this year, like .guru, .xyz, .photography, .today, .company, .email… Maybe in the second half of the year.

Please comment if you know about another private new gTLD sales.
